The Resident Doctor plays a crucial role within the NHS.

If Consultants can be considered as working Independent Practitioners, the hospital requires member of the medical team who are a permenant presence to provide continuous patient care. This is the role of the Resident Doctor. 

Resident Doctors will typically work primarily with the surgical inpatients, conducting ward rounds and ensuring that all patients are well looked after. Any changes in a patient’s condition are discussed with the consultant and appropriate further treatment agreed.
