Ready, set, go… Branch Manager at Rugby Industrial, James Mould, has been crowned as this year’s Go Karting champion after racing his way to first place at the recent Pertemps Network Grand Final in Birmingham.

A record number of employees from Pertemps and Network Group took part in the annual competition, which saw competitors channel their inner Lewis Hamilton to try and win the once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Monaco Grand Prix.

26 of the fastest drivers came together to battle it out for the title of champion in the Grand Final at Teamworks Karting in Birmingham. Each heat saw hopefuls get knocked out of the competition until the last three were left.

West Bromwich Industrial Manager, Tim Graylen, came in third place with Ben Soley, Consultant at Gloucester Industrial, racing in at second place – both winning a trip to Silverstone to see the F1. However, it was James Mould who pipped them all to the post and claimed the racing crown.

James said: “I’ve been involved with the Go Karting competition since day one and I’ve watched it grow each year. The prize used to be a bottle of Champagne, which is great, but a trip to the Monaco Grand Prix is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and an amazing prize.
“I’ve been watching Formula One all my life, so I’m over the moon to be able to be there watching the action live. I really wasn’t expecting to win due to the high standard of drivers, so I’m really happy.”

Tim Jones, Head of Marketing and organiser of the event, said: “After organising the Go Karting competition since it first started in 2013, I’ve seen it grow bigger and bigger each year. This year more staff than ever took part and there were extra heats added in Edinburgh, Bristol and London to answer the huge demand.

“As always, I had a fantastic time organising the competition and wish huge congratulations to James for his deserved win.”
